Cookie Cart: An Evaluation of A Youth Work Experience and Empowerment Program
Minneapolis provides quality, paid, first-time employment training for neighborhood teens. The program�s unique combination of environment (a community, nonprofit bakery), classroom training, and peer team building provides youth ages 15-17 the opportunity to gain transferable job, life, interpersonal, and leadership skills. This report summarizes the results of surveys completed by youth and their parents over the last two years. In the current year (2011-2012), youth participation decreased slightly compared to the previous year, while parent participation decreased significantly.

The Cookie Cart
The Cookie Cart is a youth employment program that provides quality, paid, first-time employment training for neighborhood teens. Through the retail bakery, youth age 15-18, get hands-on job training and learn basic employment skills such as appropriate work behavior, time management and problem-solving. The multi-year evaluation looks at the effectiveness of the program in helping youth gain employment skills.
