If you’re an adult living in the United States, chances are high that you’ve experienced trauma.

According to national surveys, 50-90 percent of adults have experienced at least one traumatic event in their lives. Natural disasters, accidents, serious illnesses, crimes, violence and abuse, and other experiences can all be traumatic. These traumatic experiences can have significant and widespread impacts on people’s lives.

As a result, mental health and social service providers at Wilder and elsewhere now focus on providing trauma-informed care.

With this increased focus in mind, Wilder’s research librarians have compiled links to seven resources for more information about trauma-informed care.
